Bordeaux Wines

We are particularly proud of our Bordeaux offering and ‘TP’ the founding spirit of this organisation was a celebrated aficionado and even penned a book on the wines of Bordeaux. The Irish Wines of Bordeaux, Vine Press, 1990.

From Bordeaux we are particularly proud to work with the Cuvellier family owners of Chateau Leoville Poyferre one of the super seconds of the 1855 classification (St.Julien), Chateau Moulin Riche (St Julien) and Chateau le Crock (St Estephe).

We also work very closely with two of the specialist negociants in Bordeaux who provide us with a great array of Petit Chateaux. They also allow us to source some of the very best wineries on the right bank from St Emilion and Pomerol where Merlot and Cabernet Franc are king. Similarly from the left bank  (Medoc) in Bordeaux where Cabernet Sauvignon is the star. With our negociants we have access to the most famous addresses and great allocations when it comes to en primeur.

We have a particularly strong Haut Medoc representation with important references from Pauillac, St. Julien, St Estephe, Margaux, Moulis and Listrac and we stock many of the much followed Chateau Lynch Bages, Chateau Leoville Barton…..

Be prepared to be dazzled by the Pauillac de Chateau Latour in multiple vintages be charmed by Chateau Cambon la Pelouse one of the very best Cru Bourgeois, in fact Chateau Cambon la Pelouse  2016 won the trophy for the ‘Best Cru Bourgeois’ 2016. Look at the reviews this wine has attracted:

“This rich wine is built by generous tannins and dense black-plum fruits.A hint of dark chocolate offers depth and an edge of extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness.”  Wine Enthusiast Rank 16th/100 top 100 wines of the year 2019, Editors Choice, 93 points.

The 9th Crus Bourgeois Cup was organised during Vinexpo Bordeaux in partnership with the news magazine Le Point. There were 166 competitors at the beginning, which was a record number for this contest. Véronique Rivest* chaired an international jury of 35 professionals, who designated 12 prize winners, including Château Cambon la Pelouse 2016, which was awarded the CRUS BOURGEOIS CUP after the final tasting

“This is a good Cambon in 2016 which has benefited from vineyard replanting as well as other investments. Vines are located close to Du Tertre and you can feel the start of a Margaux-tinged florality and classicism. The tannins close in on the finish and the fruits are dark,

tight and vibrant. The best wine for years. Hubert de Boüard is the

consultant. Drink 2023-2038.”Decanter Magazine 91 points.
