HIGH QUALITY RED FROM A RISING APPELATION

This renowned wine is from Denis Durantou’s estate, crafted by his daughter Noémie. Planted in predominantly south-facing limestone-rich soil on Castillon plateau, it displays abundant ripe, plummy fruit and a gourmand tension. The tannins are assertive and edgy, with chalky notes, marking its confident character. A high quality and great value wine from a rising appellation.

    • Blend of Merlot (75%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%)
    • Jancis Robinson, 16.5/20 (Tasted Apri 21)
    • James Suckling , 92-93/100 (Tasted April 21)

    Cellaring: Drink 2025 - 2034

Food Pairing: Pair with American Fillet, Barbecued Grilled Chipolatas, Beef Cheek Carrots, and Beef Daube.

    STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Château Montlandrie, located in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, is owned by Denis Durantou. The estate's history dates back to the 18th century, and Denis has been at the helm since 1983. He desires to produce excellent wines that represent the terroir of Castillon. The 12-hectare (30 acres) vineyard is planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its clay and limestone soils foster fruit flavours, spice notes, and well-integrated tannins. Denis harvests grapes by hand and vinifies with traditional and modern techniques. The resulting wines display balance and complexity, with deep flavours and supple tannins.
