    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The heritage of Château La Haye dates back to the 16th century, beginning in 1557 when Sire Janot Bernard planted the estate's first vines. Local legend suggests the domain served as a clandestine meeting place for King Henri II and Diane de Poitiers; their interlaced monogram, "H" and "D," remains engraved at the castle's entrance to this day. In 2012, Flemish industrialist Chris Cardon fell in love with the property while running the famous Médoc Marathon. After acquiring the estate, he set a clear ambition to elevate La Haye to the status of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel.

The property's terroir, characterised by gravel over light, sandy soils, imparts a distinct finesse and elegance to the wine. This terroir produces a Saint-Estèphe that is supple and fruit-forward, making it approachable even in its youth.
