The ColleMassari Domaine, under the direction of Iris and Claudio Tipa, comprises today three estates: Castello di ColleMassari, Grattamacco and the Poggio di Sotto Estate. These wineries produce amongst them so of the most exciting and highly rated wines in Italy.
Was founded in 1998 and is part of the Montecucco DOC area in Upper Maremma, a territory which is ideal for the growing of Sangiovese, and situated between the DOCG areas of Brunello di Montalcino and Morellino di Scansano.The first vintage produced was 2000. The wines at this beautiful estate are organic and sensational. Gambero Rosso voted this winery, winery of the year 2014. Expect incredibly intense, well judged wines with a great sense of terroir.
This exceptional 14 ha estate was founded in 1977 in the DOC area of Bolgheri where the growing of Cabernet Sauvignon attracted huge international attention and contributed to the creation of a new genre of very highly quality wines, termed ‘super Tuscans’. The first vintage of this very highly acclaimed estate was in 1982 and was the result of blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Sangiovese.
Poggio di Sotto
Although very small, is unequivocally one of the very best producers in Montalcino and is all included in the short list of top producers. This is simply an iconic estate.
