Delicious Northern Rhône Syrah

Vibrant purple colour with bags of black fruits on the nose. Medium to full bodied, with blackberry, cherry and spice flavours, allied to gentle tannins and a fresh, peppery finish. Hand harvested with rigorous fruit sorting. De-stemmed, crushed and moved to stainless steel tank. 3 days of maceration before fermentation with selected yeasts at up to 33C over 7 days. Further maceration of 20 days with regular pumping over.

Ageing: 6 months in oak barrel

Cellaring: It can comfortably cellar for a further 6-8 years.

With great purity of fruit, it is much lighter than what you might expect from a Montsant “Granatxa”, a true everyday drinking wine.

A Complex Vernaccia from a 3-hectare Vineyard

Made from Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes exclusively grown in the 3-hectare vineyard of Sant'Elena near the hamlet of Racciano, 350 meters asl, with deep, loose-textured, mostly clayey soils. This selection is released approximately two years after harvesting, after an extended period on fine lees.
The wine releases all of the varietal’s potential. To the nose, it is intense and complex, with a broad, multifaceted aromatic spectrum. Hints of white flowers and citrus fruit blend perfectly with the mineral notes typical of this varietal, primarily flint. Olfactory complexity is achieved thanks to extensive aging on fine lees. The taste is complex, enveloping, with a nice intensity. The flavors blend in perfect harmony, combining fullness and fresh vibrancy, with a long, taut and bright finish, and a hint of almond

Whelehans has done an amazing job of sourcing a mid-sized Champagne producer making phenomenal wine that rivals most of the big name houses. The reserve is particularly good value and I have bought it in three formats; half bottles as an aperitif, bottles for celebrating being alive , and magnums as well-received dinner gifts
