A complex red that is now starting to show its potential
Garnet coloured wine, medium-bodied and strikingly clear in appearance. Intense red fruit aromas of strawberry, raspberry, red cherries as well as wild roses. Aged in old oak so wood characteristics are there but not overpowering. This gives it a smoky, caramel flavour with a hint of liquorice. This is a complex wine that is now starting to really show its potential.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
One thing that many leading Portuguese winemakers have in common is their faith in the potential of the country’s many native grape varieties. The family-run winery of Quinta dos Roques are no exception. Alfrocheiro is a grape that is only grown in the Dão and reflects its potential. This is a hidden gem so if you're unfamiliar with the region and in the mood for something new then this is a great place to start.
