On the palate you get black cherries and plums, blueberries as well as Rhone-style Syrah’s meat and pepper character. With fine tannins and a clear, surprisingly tart finish.
Weingut Dorli Muhr is a small, organic boutique winery founded in 2002 in Austria’s Carnuntum region. Its 12 ha estate on the limestone‑rich Spitzerberg hill produces elegant, expressive Blaufränkisch and Syrah wines of intense aromatics, minerality and finesse. Vintage yields are tiny and hand‑harvested, with wines aged in large wooden vats for purity and length.
Carnuntum is crafted from 65% Blaufränkisch and 35% Syrah and undergoes very light-handed treatment in the winery to showcase the character of the varieties and terroir. The grapes are fermented using wild yeasts and without the addition of sulphur with maceration taking place slowly in large wooden casks. The young wine is then left to mature for two years to produce a very well-rounded and balanced red with a lively personality.
