    Domaine Michel Nöellat

A Micro-Burgundian House With a Blue Chip Genealogy

Domaine Michel Nöellat, a 19th century Domaine located in the heady AC of Vosne-Romanée comprises 100 different plots in 27 hectares, across 25 appellations from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune. The estate now with the sixth generation at the helm has an ultra-modern winery equipped with around forty thermo-regulated stainless-steel vats.

“They practice lutte raisonée, avoiding herbicides and pesticides, in the 27 hectares of vineyard in the Côte de Nuits, augmented by parcels down in  Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The average age of the vines is between 60 and 70 years old. Everything here is de-stemmed. Sebastien Nöellat told me that they do not wish to leave the imprint of the oak on their wines, so they are mostly matured in one-third each of new, one-year-old and two-year-old oak from three cooperages, currently Cavin, François Frères and Taransaud—although Sebastien said that they would reduce it to two from next year.” Parker

The wines are aged in French oak barrels from various sources. The proportion of new barrels is between 30% for the villages and 50% for the 1er Crus and Grands Crus. Bottling is carried out after 15 to 18 months of aging in barrels.

We believe they make some of the most thrilling red Burgundies from the Côte de Nuits. A burgundy house to champion.
