Austrian wine is having a real moment right now, especially across its classic white, red, and sweet styles. Before bringing an Austrian producer into our portfolio, we spent several years tasting wines from across the country. One winery consistently stood out above all the rest: Weingut Türk.

We are proud to represent Franz Türk’s wines as their exclusive importer in Ireland.

300 Years of Heritage in Kremstal

Weingut Türk is a family-run winery based in Austria's Kremstal valley, backed by over 300 years of history. The Türk family has been passing down vineyard knowledge from generation to generation since the 18th century.

Tradition Meets New Ideas

For winemaker Franz Türk, having three centuries of tradition behind you doesn't mean doing things the old way just for the sake of it. His approach is simple: observe the weather and microclimate of each vineyard site closely, respond gently, and act fast when work needs to be done. He uses accumulated family knowledge as a foundation while constantly testing new ways to refine the wine.

The Winemaking Philosophy

Working with Nature

Good wine starts with healthy grapes allowed to ripen fully and naturally. The estate works with a minimal-intervention approach - letting nature do the heavy lifting in the vineyard and stepping back in the cellar.

Patience in the Cellar

You won't find rush-released, young wines full of superficial fruit aromas in the Türk lineup. Every bottle gets the aging time it actually needs before it hits the shelf. Even their light, easy-drinking Grüner Veltliner Donauwalzer stays on its fine lees for an extended period to build depth and balance.

Built to Age

Rather than chasing short-lived market trends, Franz focuses on structure, power, and character. These are robust, balanced wines with real longevity - bottles that will easily keep and improve in the cellar for years.

The Passion: Kremstaler Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's signature white grape, and it is the absolute heart of the estate - making up over 75% of their total vineyard area.

Through careful farming in Kremstal, Weingut Türk highlights just how versatile and complex Grüner Veltliner can be, producing wines with incredible depth, mineral focus, and aging potential.

Food Pairing

Pair Grüner Veltliner with dishes that highlight its signature high acidity, citrus, and white pepper notes. It is the ultimate match for famously difficult "green" vegetables (like asparagus), rich fried foods (like Austrian Wiener Schnitzel), also great choice for spicy Asian cuisines such as Thai and and Vietnamese food.
