STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
André Vatan took over the family estate in 1988 following the death of his father. With his wife Arielle, he has gradually expanded the business. They farm 10ha primarily Sauvignon Blanc with some small parcels of Pinot Noir for the production of rosé. They produce unique, memorable wines which we are delighted to import exclusively. The clear grape juice is left in contact with the red grape skins overnight to produce this lightly coloured wine.
The Vatan family are artisan winemakers. Their wines have clean, linear flavours and great structure. This is a superb rosé with dry, crisp, floral flavours and fruit flavours of redcurrant and cherry.
"Domaine André Vatan knocks it out of the park with this coral-hued, elegant, food-friendly rosé, with nuanced summer fruit aromas, mouthfeel, mouth-watering acidity and dry, zesty finish. Yes to seafood platters, grilled shellfish, seared tuna, herb-roast monkfish or bream on the bone." Aoife Carrigy, Irish Independent, 21th August 2021.
"Perfectly pale Rosé from Sancerre in the Loire Valley. Crafted by the Vatan family from parcels of Pinot Noir grapes, the juice gets its coral pink colour from overnight skin contact. Fresh and clean on the palate, with red berry and cherry notes. Nice length. Enjoy with: Cold meats platter." The Irish Sun, July, 2021
"A triumph of winemaking. 100% Pinot Noir, a touch of rose hips, knocks a certain angel off its plinth." Tom Doorley, Irish Daily Mail on Sunday, 13/06/21
"Pinot Noir makes some of the best rosé, as this elegant wine demonstrates; pale in colour with delicious delicate ripe wild strawberries and redcurrants with a lip-smacking finish. Drink solo or with poached salmon." The Irish Times, John Wilson, August 14h 2021.
