A true expression of Tempranillo that will only get better with age

Deep cherry red color with some garnet on the rim reflecting its age. The nose greets you with dark ripe wild fruits aromas, tobacco and a hint of balsamic. The palate is fleshy and lingering with ripe blackberry, plums, figs and liquorice. Shows typically distinctive Ribera balance of smoothness and power.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Extremes of weather and terroir are essential to the crafting of great wines. The more stress on the vine, the better the wine. With vineyards located at over 900m on low fertile soil and in an area of extreme weather ranges (Up to 50°C difference between Summer and Winter), the vineyards of Bodegas Peñafiel in Ribera Del Duero already have a leg-up on their peers in crafting terroir-driven wines of quality. Not all Spanish Reserva’s are the same. In comparison to Rioja, this Reserva has just as much quality but is more densely layered and robust. Decant 1.5 hours beforehand.
