Soft, elegant and flavourful Tempranillo

A lustrous red cherry colour encased in a ruby rim. An elegant nose with dark fruit, balsamic and spicy notes. Well-structured on the palate with a ripe blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit core. With vanilla, coffee and grated dark chocolate nuances from the oak ageing all rounded off with a long, lively finish.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Although a relatively young winery (formed in 2003), the producers at Bodegas Peñafiel are already noted for creating wines of distinction. With vineyards located at over 900m in Ribera Del Duero, these are close to being some of the highest in Europe. In a region characterised by extreme weather ranges this gives them a leg-up in crafting terroir-driven wines of distinction and quality. With 18 months oak ageing, this is a Crianza of more body, complexity and density than many of its peers in Rioja.
