    Delectable and vibrantly juicy - a sensational Ornellaia

    The wine is intensely hued, a deep, vibrant ruby red that instantly hints at its richness. The expressive nose conveys beguiling aromas of ripe blueberry, blackberry, and dark plum, accompanied by elegant notes of toasted almond and cocoa. Overtones of Mediterranean shrub emerge as the wine evolves in the glass, further accentuating a bouquet of rare complexity. Generous and mouth-filling, the palate is concentrated yet surprisingly plush and delicate, underscored by a vitality that brings energy and momentum to the tasting. While powerful, the body reveals exceptional softness, finesse, and perfect balance. The wine has an enduring finish, sustained by silky, chiselled tannins that deliver richness, flavour, and remarkable length. Ornellaia 2023 is the embodiment of an excellent vintage, authentically conveying the strength and harmony of a unique terroir.

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

    Founded in 1981 in Bolgheri, Tuscany, Ornellaia is one of Italy's most prestigious and iconic wineries. Renowned for its Bordeaux-style blends, the estate has played a pivotal role in establishing Bolgheri as a world-class wine region, earning international acclaim for its consistency and excellence. This pursuit of perfection is beautifully reflected in the 2023 vintage. Despite being a challenging year, it ultimately benefitted from Nature’s benevolence at key moments throughout the growing season.

    A mild winter with relatively warm temperatures spurred early budburst, while a wet spring replenished vital water reserves for the summer ahead, demanding meticulous, hands-on work in the vineyards. The hot summer brought high temperatures—though fortunately without extremes - alongside timely rains that prevented water stress and allowed the grapes to ripen gradually and evenly. Finally, late August rains combined with cool September nights to foster exceptional aromatic complexity and preserve a vibrant acidity, yielding highly concentrated berries that strike a perfect, historic balance between power and elegance.
