STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

As the “heel” on the boot of Italy, the Salice Salentino region in Puglia is as distinctive geographically as it is viticulturally. The combination of warm temperatures, cooling sea breezes, fertile plains and mountain ranges gives the wine here a singular identity and profile all of its own.
With a vineyard area of approximately 110ha, a commitment to organic and sustainable practices and a philosophy of letting the land do the talking, Candidio wines are at the fore front of modern winemaking in the region.
Negro Amaro roughly translates as “the black, bitter one”. It certainly is distinctively opaque but in the hands of these master winemakers you have a well-rounded, earthy and spicy expression of the best that Puglia has to offer.
