    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Kaapzicht is a historic, family-owned winery in Stellenbosch’s Bottelary Hills, where the Steytler family has farmed for four generations since 1946. Meaning “Cape View,” the estate enjoys spectacular views towards Table Mountain and benefits from old, weathered granite soils and cooling sea breezes. Kaapzicht is particularly renowned for its expressive Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cape-style red blends.

Sourced from a certified heritage vineyard planted in 1982, this wine is hand-picked and gently crushed with brief skin contact to build texture. Following overnight natural settling, the juice undergoes spontaneous wild-yeast fermentation in large 400L and 500L oak barrels, lasting up to four weeks. Ten months of barrel aging before bottling adds refined complexity and depth while preserving the vibrant old-vine character.
