A stunning expression of the Juffer site - Wonderful Riesling!

The 2024 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling “GB” is an extraordinarily dry Mosel Riesling (clocking in at a razor-sharp 2 g/l residual sugar) harvested from 35-year-old vines in the prized Hasenläufer sector. On the nose, it is beautifully restrained yet full of promise, unfolding with white peach, subtle floral blossoms, delicate whipped cream texture, and a whisper of slate smoke. The palate is effortlessly silky, carrying fresh orchard fruit and vibrant lemon through a masterfully balanced, harmonious finish. Ripe, integration-ready acidity weaves through the palate, lending immense finesse and drive to a gloriously long aftertaste. A standout triumph for the vintage.

"The 2024 Riesling Brauneberger Juffer GB, GB standing for Grosser Brauneberger rather than GG, is from a parcel at the bottom of the slope called Hasenläufer. A note of apricot is tender but exquisitely pure on the nose. The palate follows in the same vein, with a fine-boned body, real finesse and much freshness. All is in tune, enhanced by both salt and lemony brightness. The 2024 is wonderful. (Bone-dry)"

      • 100% Riesling
      • Cru Classé
      • James Suckling | 97 Points
      Cellaring:  Ideal now through 2038
Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with pan-seared river trout, sea scallops in lemon-butter sauce, and fresh oysters on the half shell. The silky texture and subtle smoke notes make it an exceptional partner for roasted chicken, pork tenderloin, or Alsatian flammkuchen. Also stands up wonderfully to mild Thai curries, ginger-infused dishes, and aged goat cheese. | 🌡️ The wine should be served at around 10°C

      STORY BEHIND THE LABEL

Based in Brauneberg at the heart of the Mosel Valley, Weingut Günther Steinmetz is a third-generation family estate led by husband-and-wife team Stefan and Sammie Steinmetz. Building on a century of family tradition, they craft raw, terroir-driven wines across 12 hectares of legendary slate slopes - including prized plots in the Brauneberger Juffer, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, and Dhroner Hofberg. Practicing low-intervention, natural viticulture, they reject all chemical fertilisers, herbicides, and insecticides, focusing instead on strict yield control and hand-harvesting old, ungrafted Riesling vines from precipitous inclines that can only be worked by hand.

In the cellar, Stefan and Sammie adhere to a strict minimal-intervention ethos: 100% wild, spontaneous fermentations with zero additives, fining agents, or animal products. Renowned wine critic Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com) consistently celebrates Steinmetz dry Rieslings for their breathtaking intensity, off-the-scale concentration, and razor-sharp slate precision. These are singular, cellar-worthy Mosel wines defined by pure linearity and electric tension.
