Explore the Elegance of German Wines

This collection offers a proper deep dive into German winemaking, bringing together four distinct Rieslings and two elegant Pinot Noirs. We’ve selected these bottles to show off the mineral-driven style of the Pfalz, Mosel, and Rheingau - moving from the bone-dry, "crushed slate" intensity of Fritz Haag’s Brauneberger Juffer to the smoky, citrus energy of P.J. Kuhn’s Quarzit and the structured, age-worthy Kalkstein from Pfeffingen. If you’re after something more rounded and textured, the Pfeffingen Weissburgunder is a fantastic, food-friendly all-rounder. For the reds, you get a great contrast between the concentrated strawberry and licorice notes of Pfeffingen’s "Alte Reben" and the earthy, savoury forest fruits of J. Geil’s Pinot Noir. Most of these are drinking beautifully right now, but the Kalkstein and Fritz Haag have plenty of life in them if you want to keep them for a while.

    Included in the case:

Weingut Pfeffingen Ungstein Riesling Kalkstein, 2022

Crystal clear, mineral freshness, charming fruit play and a complex, powerful body ensure the wines’ special longevity.

Food Pairing: Seafood, shellfish or crustaceans or mild cheeses.

    Cellaring: Now to 2032

    Weingut Pfeffingen Weissburgunder Trocken, 2022

A fresh and fruity white wine with a fine glaze. Its harmonious, dry taste makes it an ideal accompaniment to food. Be sure to try it!

    • Dry White

Food Pairing: Mild cheeses, seafood, pasta, and creamy or acidic sauces are also excellent choices.

    Cellaring: Ideal now

    Fritz Haag, Riesling Trocken, 2023

"A streak of mineral linearity describes this racy Riesling from the Brauneberger Juffer site, made bone dry in the GG style. Floral and spiced aromatics play well with the wine's touch of reduction. The palate is austere in its complexity—crushed slate, ripe lemon and grapefruit glide on air across the briny, crushed shell mineral backbone."
    -Decanter

Food Pairing: Delicate seafood, such as raw oysters, scallops, and ceviche, roasted pork loin with apple sauce or a classicpork schnitzel. It also pairs well with the subtle spices and herbs in light Asian cuisines, such as Vietnamese summer rolls

    Cellaring: Perfect now

Weingut Pfeffingen Spatburgunder Alte Reben, 2023

A medium bodied Pinot Noir from old vines (alte reben). Concentrated aromas of strawberries, raspberries with a subtle note of licorice on the nose. Nice balance, soft elegant tannins with good acidity and a persistent earthy finish.

    • 12 months in Pfalz oak casks

    Cellaring: Drink now to 2028

Food Pairing: Grilled/roasted chicken, turkey or pork, creamy pasta dishes.

    PJ Kuhn Quarzit Riesling, 2022

Dry and crisp, with zingy citrus, soft apricot notes and smoky minerality on the palate. An elegant and accessible Riesling.

    • 100% Riesling
    • 91 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
    • VDP Ortswein

Food Pairing:  Aperitif, or with spicy food, pork, cheese

Weingut Oekonomierat J. Geil Pinot Noir Trocken, 2022

This wine offers a wonderfully earthy and smooth profile, highlighted by an abundance of ripe wild berries from the forest, with a hint of peppery spice and a savory touch. It strikes an impressive balance with a long, satisfying finish. Both approachable and juicy, it also carries a depth and complexity that makes it truly rewarding

Food Pairing: Roast chicken, turkey, pasta or mushroom-based recipes.
