This wine shows tremendous depth of colour and great intensity on the nose. The palate is powerful and fruit packed with ripe raspberry and spicy cherry fruit supported by a touch of herbs and violets, soft silky tannins and a long, fine finish which is the hallmark of the Selvapiana wines.

Fattoria Selvapiana’s modern history began in 1957 when Francesco Giuntini took over the estate. The property itself dates back to the Middle Ages, when it served as a summer retreat for Florentine bishops and aristocrats. Giuntini was well ahead of his time, recognizing early on that this land was capable of producing a great, single-vineyard wine made entirely from Sangiovese. That conviction led to the birth of the estate’s standout bottle: the Vigneto Bucerchiale Chianti Rufina Riserva.
Only released in the best vintages, this wine comes entirely from the Bucerchiale vineyard, situated in the Chianti Rufina hills at the foot of the Apennine Mountains. Sitting between 200 and 350 meters above sea level, the plot features clay and limestone soils with vines ranging from 16 to 40 years old. Because the site faces north and experiences a cooler microclimate, the grapes retain a natural brightness and acidity. The entire vineyard is farmed by hand, resulting in a clean, crisp, and elegant expression of classic Sangiovese.
