Rare red blend of indigenous grapes from Sicily
Both grapes are known for their bright red and crunchy fruit flavours and that’s certainly what you get here. Raspberry, sweet strawberry, pomegranate, cranberry and baked cherries lead the attack in a lean, light-bodied style with high acidity. Earthy with some vanilla, blueberry and black plum notes all cloaked in exotic spices of cardamon and clove.
Food Pairing: Match this Terre di Giumara with roasted red pepper and sun-dried style pasta, sweet and sour pork or turkey with cranberry sauce.
Cellaring: Now to 2023
STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
The Mediterranean's largest island is a gift to wine-lovers everywhere and if you are new to the region then this rare red blend from Caruso & Minini is a great starting point.
Caruso & Minini is a joint venture between 2 families who due to their backgrounds, marry the traditional with the modern effortlessly to produce deliciously distinctive results. This is epitomised in this Terre di Giumara, a modern blend of 2 of Sicily’s historic grapes. Nerello Mascalese has been called Sicily's answer to Pinot Noir. Combined with the red fruit profile and spiciness of Frappato in the hands of these experts, you have a wine that punches well above its weight.
