Kurtatsch, "Amos", Südtirol Alto Adige DOC, 2023

Known at the estate simply as "the mountain wine," Amos captures the pure essence of Kurtatsch’s highest elevations. To craft this unique cuvée, the winemakers meticulously select the finest white grapes from their coolest, most extreme vineyard sites, situated between 600 and 900 meters above sea level. To preserve the striking alpine freshness of the fruit, they purposefully avoid small oak barriques, choosing instead to age the wine on its fine lees in large, traditional wooden barrels to build textural complexity. The blend is built on a solid, compact foundation of classic Burgundy varieties, while the thoughtful addition of Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc lifts the aromatics. The result is a highly original, multi-layered mountain wine with a character entirely its own.
