A Chablis 1er Cru Full of Energy

"A blend from plots in Montée de Tonnerre, Chapelot and Pied d’Aloup, the latter planted in 1944. Glowing lemon yellow. A high quality nose with the spicy liquorice style of ripeness rather than tropical fruit. All in stainless steel. Becomes buttery at the finish, but there are grape tannins to retain the tensions. The high concentration of dry extract gives a little bitterness to finish, which will subsequently integrate."

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Domaine Billaud-Simon has been a part of the Chablis wine region since 1815 and covers almost 17 hectares of vineyards in which Chardonnay reigns supreme. The Domaine currently counts four Grands Crus (Les Clos, Vaudésir, Les Preuses and Les Blanchots) as well as four Premiers Crus (Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Mont de Milieu and Les Vaillons). The Chablis wines of Domaine Billaud-Simon present sophistication, balance and pure Chardonnay fruit, which prove to be superb examples of modern style Chablis
