Typically we associate Sancerre with white wine but it would be a mistake to miss this elegant pinot noir based red made form 30 year old vines. It’s a little lighter than a Burgundy but has beautiful floral berry and cherry aromas and a freshness of palate.

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Domaine André Vatan is a family-run winery in Sancerre, Loire Valley, France, known for producing elegant Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines. Located in the village of Chavignol, the estate emphasizes traditional methods and terroir-driven expression, offering crisp, mineral-rich wines that reflect the region’s limestone and clay soils.

André inherited his vines from his father Jean and has cautiously expanded the business and invested in sophisticated new equipment. He is ably assisted by his wife Arielle and has no shortage of heirs with his children Aimée, Adrian and Antoine!
