Great Margaux for Relatively Early Drinking - Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel

"A wine that punches above its weight is the 2019 Paveil de Luze, derived from holdings on the deep gravel soils of the plateau of Brane and containing some 80% Cabernet Sauvignon. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries, loamy soil and rose petals, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and seamless, with refined, powdery tannins and a long, penetrating finish. This is well worth seeking out".
    -William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Rich, dark red in colour.  Intense aromas of forest & bramble fruits - ripe loganberry, blackberry and wild strawberry.  The palate is brimming with sweet fruits, balanced by vanilla oak, savoury leather & tobacco, mocha with fresh herbs in the finish.  Full bodied and voluptuous, mouth coating with deliciously silky, elegant tannins.  Harmony in a bottle.

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE:

The Paveil vineyard dates back to the 17th century and belonged until the end of the 18th century to the Lords of Bretonneau, one of whose members married, during the reign of Louis XV, a daughter of the Chevalier de Rauzan. In 1862, Baron Alfred de Luze bought this magnificent 120-hectare estate and made his wines known throughout the world. The Siberian winter of 1956 destroyed a large part of the vineyard and in 1960, Baron Geoffroy de Luze decided to restore the property's splendor.
The rejuvenation treatment was undertaken methodically and patiently: replanting the vineyard, restoring the vat room, renovating the cellars.
