An expressive and vibrant, high-altitude volcanic wine

This wine presents a beautiful light ruby hue, opening with an expressive bouquet of bright red berries, wild cherries, and a tart hint of pomegranate. On the palate, it is wonderfully lively, featuring fine-grained tannins that are perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidity. This vibrant structure carries succulent red fruit flavors deepened by nuanced layers of floral notes and dried tea leaves, all anchored by a sophisticated, stony streak of graphite on the finish.

Terre Nere’s wines all possessed unbelievable freshness and complexity as well as huge perfumes that suggested Pinot Noir…These wines are astonishingly complex and ethereal efforts from the hillsides of Mt. Etna in Sicily.”
    –Robert Parker

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Located near Mount Etna, Tenuta delle Terre Nere is one of the best wine producers in Italy. The winery was a project and endeavour of Marco De Grazia. Marco had always remained involved in the world of wines since his early years. Many people consider him to be the person who put the region of Etna on the winemakers’ map, attracting worldwide fame and recognition. Additionally, he served as the driving force that convinced the Italian wine industry of the significance of establishing Contrada in their producing areas.

The grapes undergo maceration throughout the entire fermentation process at a controlled temperature of 25–28°C, ensuring optimal extraction of colour and structure. Following this, the wine completes a spontaneous malolactic fermentation and is aged for 16 months in large French oak barrels to refine its character. A final month in stainless steel tanks allows the wine to settle and harmonize before bottling.
