WEINGUT PFEFFINGEN SPÄTBURGUNDER TROCKEN, 2018

"The Weingut Pfeffingen Spätburgunder Trocken, 2018 (Whelehans Wines, €25) is a fantastic example from the Pfalz region, showcasing great character in an excellent vintage. There's a wonderful ripeness of fruit here with cherries and blackcurrant underpinned by woodland vehetation. 
The aromas are elongated and elegant, with a palate that is silky yet balanced by vibrant acidity. A mild flicker of spice rounds out a well-balanced structure that leads into a dry mineral finish. 
Retaining own self-identity, this shows that German Pinot is beginning to shine and can stand confidently in the ring with other heavyweights. Highly recommended."
