The business was founded in the late 1800s and today the 5th generation of the de Simón family are involved in every aspect of production and distribution. The winery and the family’s 65ha of vineyards and 15ha of long term contracted vineyards are all close to Villabuena in Rioja’s Alavesa sub region. Read more.
Made from a single vineyard that’s over 70-year-old with 95% Tempranillo and the rest Garnacha and Graciano. The grapes are cold fermented prior to fermentation before ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
The wine is quite dark for Rioja with aromas of red berries, brambles and cranberry with a light cinnamon like spice and a touch of vanilla. There’s ripe tannin on the palate giving focus and length to the lingering finish.
18 months on 100% new French oak.
