A Rosso di Montalcino with impressive depth and structure

The "Ciampoleto" captivates with a vibrant medium-ruby hue, leading into a refined bouquet of red berries, blackcurrant, and black cherry, accented by hints of sage and subtle smoke. On the palate, it is firm yet expressive, revealing layers of ripe wild berries, spice, and a delicate touch of almond framed by velvety tannins. This Rosso surprises with its impressive depth and structure, finishing with soft cherry, lingering licorice, and a whisper of salty minerality.

"Graceful nose of liquorice root, restrained raspberries and pressed violets. The attack is firm and crisp, as you'd expect from Sangiovese, but with supple cherries and ripe tannins. The finish is chewy and chalky, but dynamic."

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Tenuta San Giorgio is a standout Montalcino estate located on the sunny, high-altitude slopes of Castelnuovo dell’Abate near the historic Sant'Antimo Abbey. Now part of the prestigious ColleMassari Group alongside Poggio di Sotto, the winery focuses on organic-sustainable viticulture across 26 hectares of prime Sangiovese vines. Under the guidance of oenologist Luca Marrone, the production has returned to a traditional style using large wooden barrels to craft velvety, structured wines like the "Ugolforte" Brunello and the "Ciampoleto" Rosso. With its unique terroir of gravel and clay and a reputation as an official supplier to the Papal Swiss Guard, the estate holds a distinguished status within the Tuscan wine scene.
