    Fresh and Clean Natural Dolcetto

    On the nose, notes of violets and cherries with a hint of earth. On the palate, fresh and clean with a slightly spicy edge. Look out for flavours of almonds and liquorice. The tannins are balanced and the finish lingering.

    BEHIND THE WINE

    The Principiano estate is situated in Monforte d'Alba in Piemonte's Langhe Hills and was founded by Ferdinando's father, Americo, in the 1950's. Ferdinando took charge of the estate in 1993 and since 2004 has farmed biodynamically, using no chemicals in the vineyards or sulphur in the cellar. All Ferdinando's wines, is bottled without the addition of sulphur.

    Ferdinando Principiano is part of the new generation of exciting, young, dynamic winemakers currently shaking things up in Piedmont. His original approach tended towards making 'supped-up' wines that pandered to the 1990's American critics palate. Yet he saw the light in the early '00s, and set about making some big changes that created elegant, supple wines that aged spectacularly whilst remaining delicious to enjoy when young. His vineyards are also rich with wildlife and biodiversity, as he embraced a more natural, eco-centric approach.
