A powerful and elegant nose with cherry, plum, violet and sandalwood aromas. On the palate you get lots of blackberry, dried figs, cocoa with vanilla and pepper spice notes and a lovely long finish. Tannins are incredibly well-balanced. A wine of effortless depth and power.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Although a relatively young winery (formed in 2003), the producers at Bodegas Peñafiel are already noted for creating wines of distinction. With vineyards located at over 900m in Ribera Del Duero, these are close to being some of the highest in Europe. In a region characterised by extreme weather ranges this gives them a leg-up in crafting terroir-driven wines. While the winery itself is still in its “teens”, it is has already made a name for itself as masters of high-quality ageing. This wine was produced from old vines, limited yields and has spent 36 months in fine-grained French oak. As a standout wine from this Bodega, quality is the watchword.
