Rich and layered Shiraz with great freshness

Concentrated mulberries, boynesberries and black pastille fruits dominate the nose with subtle fennel frond nuances. Subtle oak complexities of black cardamom, nutmeg and lifted violets are well positioned in the background. The palate is rich and layered with dark cherries, plums and raspberries. Integrated structural dark chocolate tannins scroll to the back palate with subtle hints of anise, which is balanced with an elegant and buoyant acid line.

"This younger, less costly sibling in Leeuwin's Shiraz pair really shines. Less encumbered by oak, there are lucid, layered aromas of red currant, black olive, dark chocolate and savory spice. They flow to a mid-weight, harmonious palate of plump plummy succulence, wrapped in savory, fine tannins with lovely mouth-watering acidity."

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

As a cornerstone of Western Australia’s iconic Margaret River, Leeuwin Estate represents the pinnacle of Australian winemaking. Established in 1973 by Denis and Tricia Horgan - under the early mentorship of the legendary Robert Mondavi - the estate catapulted to global fame when its "Art Series" Chardonnay was named one of the world's finest by Decanter Magazine in 1981.
