Domaine Rapet Père & Fils, Pernand-Vergelesses, "Les Combottes", 2023

These are new plantings from the early 2000s, on new land with good south-west exposure but difficult to work because of the steep slopes. The name "Combottes" is a diminutive of combe, alluding to the hilly nature of this parcel. Situated in the "Les plantes des champs et combottes" climate, the hillside is an extension of the village and the soil is white, marly and fairly light. The rows are short, with ditches to contain erosion. 

Pernand-Vergelesses is a hidden gem in the Côte de Beaune, tucked behind the Hill of Corton. It is one of the few Burgundian villages that excels equally in both red and white wines, offering a high-value alternative to its more famous neighbours.
