STORY BEHIND THE WINE

A classic blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano sourced primarily from high-altitude sites in Rioja Alta (Sajazarra, Cellorigo, and Fonzaleche), with the Garnacha selected from elevated plots in Tudelilla. The grapes are hand-harvested into 200 kg crates, meticulously optical-sorted, and fermented in small oak casks using indigenous yeasts. The wine undergoes an extended 36-month élevage in oak barrels, of which only 10% are new, preserving its pure fruit character and terroir expressiveness.

Bodegas Muga is a true icon of Spanish winemaking, recognised as a "First Growth" of Rioja by Master of Wine Tim Atkin. Established in the 1930s, the estate holds the majority of its vineyards in Rioja Alta, where high elevations and strong Atlantic influences impart a distinctive freshness and vitality to the wines. Today, Muga stands as one of the great success stories of Rioja, seamlessly blending historic tradition with world-class precision.
