Elegant & mineral-driven:One of the greatest Amarone!

"A vivid ruby color with a garnet tinge and super-restrained nose of licorice, oak bark, smoke, wood, cigar box, leather, dark chocolate, smashed violets and prunes. It has a fresh subtleness. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate due to ripe, filigreed tannins with long acidity and a toasty, savory aftertaste. One of the greatest Amarone. Corvina and Rondinella. Ready to drink now, but intended for the long haul."
    James Suckling

    STORY BEHIND THE LABEL

The story of Bertani is deeply woven into the history of Veneto winemaking, beginning in 1857 when brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani settled north of Verona in Quinto Di Valpantena. Having studied under the famous Professor Guyot, Gaetano brought innovative Bordeaux techniques back to Italy, blending modern viticulture with local tradition. This pioneering spirit paid off beautifully in 1958 when Bertani released its first commercial Amarone, cementing the winery as one of the most famous and iconic names in Italian wine.

Today, that legacy lives on in their Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico, born from the exceptional terroirs of Tenuta Novare near the village of Arbizzano di Negrar. Here, 20-year-old vines thrive in a distinct blend of limestone and basalt soils across their prestigious 200-hectare estate. The standout 2015 vintage took full advantage of these conditions; a hot summer and mild autumn offered the perfect runway for ideal grape maturation, resulting in a wine defined by the vintage's signature concentration and rich aromatic intensity.
