Intense & Spicy Amarone Della Valpolicella

"It is limpid to the eye, with a lively garnet red color, good consistency. On the nose it is rich and elegant with a bouquet of aromas reminiscent of slightly withered red wildflowers intertwined with notes of blackberry and dried plum. The olfactory range is completed by hints of nutmeg, licorice root and, in the finish, a nuance of freshly roasted coffee beans. The sip is perfectly balanced and harmonious. The tannin is important, but well-polished and elegant. Good persistence of taste and smell, with an aftertaste of ripe fruit and fine spices."

    STORY BEHIND THE LABEL

Considered the ultimate expression of Valpolicella, Lorenzo Begali’s Amarone Classico is a masterclass in traditional winemaking. Crafting it is a complex art form, requiring meticulous care across multiple vineyard plots to cultivate and harvest a precise blend of the regional "queen grape" Corvina, its balancing relative Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta. After vinification, the wine is aged for an extended period in oak barrels and tonneaux before getting a few final months of bottle refinement to create a truly masterful classic.

The Begali Estate (10 hectares) is situated in the DOC of Valpolicella in a small hamlet called Cengia. Here, the terroir is particularly conducive to producing intense, fragrant wines. Since the early 1900s, the Begali family has passed their learnings and love of the land tradition from generation to generation. Giordano Begali began to produce wine after the Second World War, is succeeded at the helm by his son Lorenzo and his wife Adriana.
