    An opulent & charming Amarone!

"Floral and aromatic, silky and balanced, Allegrini's 2020 Amarone Classico is a charming red. The grapes benefited from a drawn-out harvest, allowing perfect picking times for each plot. Spiced plum, raspberry, blackberry and dark cherry are marked by some baking spices and orange peel. Bold and with a touch of sweetness (3.4g/l), it’s kept in check by vibrant acidity and a balsamic herb finish, which lift it up and balance it on its toes. A blend of 45% Corvina, 45% Corvinone, 5% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta from vineyards between 450 and 520m above sea level."

    STORY BEHIND THE LABEL

The Allegrini family has been cultivating vines in Valpolicella Classica since the 16th century, formally founding their estate in 1854. Today, the 100-hectare Venetian property is led by a new generation - Francesco, Giovanni, Matteo, and their cousin Silvia - who took over in 2024, while their aunt Marilisa manages the family's Tuscan estates. Over the years, Allegrini has become a global benchmark, particularly for their mastery of appassimento. They’ve completely modernised this traditional grape-drying technique through Terre di Fumane, a state-of-the-art, 5,000 m² climate-controlled facility that beautifully bridges centuries-old tradition with technical precision.

The grapes for this landmark Amarone della Valpolicella Classico are sourced from the prestigious Marezzane and Villa Cavarena vineyards, perched at high altitudes between 450 and 520 meters. These plots benefit from ideal southeast exposure and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings, which bring out incredible flavor intensity in the 15-year-old vines. Grounded in a complex soil blend of limestone, clay, and volcanic material, the vineyards offer excellent natural drainage and a distinct mineral complexity that beautifully elevates this high-altitude wine.
