Fresh and Elegant Bordeaux Blend from 

The 2023 Gouverneurs Reserve White shows ripe tropical fruit like lychee and passionfruit with hints of orange zest, lemon, and lime. Aging in 500L French oak barrels adds a touch of honey and toasted almonds to the nose. Flavours of citrus and lime follows on the palate with subtle notes of elderflower. The palate is fresh and elegant with a beautiful intensity that shows great aging potential.

• Blend of 40% Semillon and 60% Sauvignon blanc
• Vinified separately in 50% new oak and 25% second fill and 25% third and fourth fill French oak barrels.
• Aged in 500L French oak barrels

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The grapes were hand picked and vinified separately in 50% new oak and 25% second fill and 25% third and fourth fill French oak barrels. The wine matured on its lees for 10 months before bottling then aged in bottle for another 12 months before released.

Groot Constantia is testimony of Simon van der Stel ’s love for wine who established South Africa’s first wine farm in 1685. Compelling evidence of the success of South Africa’s oldest wine being Emperors and Kings such as Frederick the Great of Prussia and Louis Phillipe (King of France) buying ‘Constantia Wyn’ at auctions across Europe. It is now one of South Africa’s most visited tourist attractions.
