Dense yet Elegant Pinot Noir from Marlborough

"Quite a reductive start, needs a bit of air to get going but then there are plenty of layered, complex aromatics – black cherry, plum and bramble, subtle herb, earth forest floor and rye bread. The palate is equally layered and surprisingly elegant given the brooding density, with a tight-knit core of wild cherry, tamarillo and earth, dusty, fine tannins and a long, savoury finish."

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Kevin Judd is one of Marlborough’s pioneering winemakers, having been the founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay. Kevin registered the name Greywacke in 1993, while still with Cloudy Bay. This is the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. He focuses on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
