In the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation, these 50- to 100-year-old vines produce a wine crafted through slow vinification. Black fruits, earthy notes, leather, mushrooms will emerge from this cuvée. Powerful with a long finish, this is a wine that can also be drunk in its youth.
Cellaring: This wine expresses perfectly after 3 or 4 years in bottle and can be forgotten in the cellar 10 or 15 years.
Food Pairing: It pairs beautifully with beef, lamb, or game dishes, as well as with delicate soft cow’s milk cheeses. It also complements spicy cuisine exceptionally well | To be served between 15°C et 18°C.
In 1967, Maurice Filliatreau sold his vineyard of 8 hectares in Chaintres to his son, Paul, who was only 24 years old at the time. Through sheer will and conviction, Paul increasingly produced fine wines, light reds with red fruit aromas that became the signature wine of Saumur Champigny.
