STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The vineyards of the San Giorgio estate are essentially an extension of the prized Poggio di Sotto site in Castelnuovo dell'Abate. As a result, the Sangiovese grown here enjoys the same favorable climate, soils, and sun exposure as its famous counterpart. San Giorgio was founded in 1982 by Guido Folonari and since new owners, ColleMassari, have invested heavily in the vineyard and winery, and it shows in their wines.
