This Saint Julien displays a lovely balance between power and finesse - 2nd wine of Léoville Barton

Intense garnet colour, depth and dense, with a beautiful brightness. The intense nose develops notes of red fruit and licorice with a subtle hint of oak. Beautiful breadth and depth on the palate, with fine, well-integrated tannins.

"Deep garnet coloured, the 2019 La Reserve de Leoville Barton offers up notes of baked blackcurrants, Black Forest cake and kirsch with nuances of menthol, dried herbs and star anise. Medium to full-bodied, the palate gives a fair amount of chew with a racy line of freshness and just enough fruit to give a savoury finish."
    -The Wine Advocate

    • Blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot & 4% Cabernet Franc
    • Decanter | 92/100 Pts
    Cellaring:  Drink now to 2034
Food Pairing: Delicious with classic meat dishes such as a slow-roasted leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled entrecôte with a red wine reduction, or tender duck confit. It also complements earthy, savory flavours found in wild mushroom risotto, truffled venison, or roasted game birds like squab and pigeon. For a cheese course, it is best served alongside hard, nutty varieties such as aged Comté, Mimolette, or a mature farmhouse Cheddar  | 🌡️ The wine should be served at around 16°C to 18°C

    STORY BEHIND THE WINE

The vineyards at Leoville Barton originally formed part of the great Leoville estate. Following the death of Marquis de la Cases, the vast property was split into three; the Marquis’ son Jean-Pierre took the third that is now Leoville Las Cases, the Marquis’ daughter, Jeanne’s share became what we know as Leoville Poyferre following her marriage to the Baron de Poyferre and the final third was auctioned off and purchased by Hugh Barton, who also purchased Langoa in 1821.
