The wine is dense and concentrated with black fruit; sweet black currant and bramble. The palate is svelte, decadent but balanced and laser-guided. Extremely impressive and pure.
Food Pairing: It will pair perfectly with roast duck in sweet and sour sauce, or pumpkin puree with gingerbread, accompanied by a few chestnuts, beef tournedos, or roast chicken with chanterelle mushrooms.
Cellaring: 15 to 20 years.
The Grand Cru plot covers 37 hectares, 69 ares, and 22 centiares. It is located to the east at between 260 and 300 meters altitude. The soil in some places is fairly deep, composed of gravel and silt. The name "Echezeaux" is derived from the Latin word "casalis," meaning building or house. This suggests the historical presence of constructions such as houses, farmsteads, or even ruins, some of which date back to the Gallo-Roman period.
Nestled in the heart of Vosne-Romanee, Domaine Michel Noëllat has 27 hectares of vineyards dotted all around the Cote de Nuits, from Pommard to Marsannay, supplemented by a few parcels down in Savigny-les-Beaune.
The average age of the vines is between 60 and 70 years old. The wines showcase their terroir beautifully, and the style, with judicious use of new oak is deep, generous and incredibly appealing. Sixth generation winemakers at the domaine, cousins Sébastien Noëllat and Sophie Noëllat-Sirugue are beginning to establish a significant reputation for themselves. With some exceptional vineyard sites and a dedicated family at the helm, Domaine Michel Noëllat produces some of the most exciting wines coming out of the Cote de Nuits today!
