Ribera del Duero

Ribera del Duero, a stark and rural winemaking region, that occupies an elevated northern plateau of the Iberian Peninsula along the course of the Duero river, endures a brief yet intense growing season. It experiences extreme temperatures leading to the latest bud break in Europe, making it vulnerable to late frosts in May and again in September, while August brings searing heat. 

Despite these challenges, this region is quickly rising to rival Rioja as Spain's premier wine area.

Ribera del Duero wines are primarily made from the noble Tempranillo grape, known locally as Tinto Fino or Tinta del País

Once known primarily for the iconic Vega Sicilia, Ribera del Duero now boasts numerous bodegas producing exceptional wines, such as Bodegas Peñafiel, Bodegas Protos,or Bodegas Emilio Moro known for their rich, robust flavours and abundant dark fruit notes.
