A great food wine from Bordeaux

2018 was a very good to excellent vintage in Bordeaux and this a rich, robust wine with plenty of dark fruit given extra dimensions by aromas of cedar and tobacco supported by ripe tannins that add length and will help the wine age.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Château Cambon La Pelouse dates back to the 1700′s, when it was founded by the Cambon family and Pelouse translates as lawn in French as they planted the lawns in front of the chateau with vines too. It has had many owners over the centuries and since 2016 has been owned by Australian company Treasury estates. The vineyard is in the commune of Macau, not far from Chateaux Cantemarle and Giscours. It comprises about 39ha of vines, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Soils are mostly gravel.
