Quinta do Soalheiro was founded in 1982 by Joãe Antonio Cerdeira in the Portuguese town of Melgaço and is currently run by his son Luis. Soalheiro are credited for being one of the first Portuguese wineries to make Albariño wines, and they have 14 hectares of vineyards on the banks of the Miño River. This Alvarinho comes from vineyards planted in granitic soils, between 100 and 200 metres above sea level. This area enjoys a particular microclimate and that gives the Albariño variety unique characteristics. Organic agriculture is used at all times, taking into account the biodiversity of the area
