A joyous multidimensional expression of Sauvignon Blanc from exceptional silex terroir. It has captivating notes of white flowers with subtle citrus references. The palate is wonderfully textured and round on the palate with layers of subtle and enticing yellow fruits flavours. Memorable.
Food Pairing: Firm textured saltwater fish. Coquilles Saint-Jacques. Roast chicken
Cellaring: 2-4 years
A 17th Century family owned Domaine that is causing a real stir in Sancerre with Matthieu Delaporte at the helm. In Matthieu’s own words “precision, balance and complexity are the watchwords of our cuvées with each delivering a strong sense of their individual terroirs, marked by considerable minerality, power and freshness”. This is the most perfect summation of their complex, intriguing and delicious wines.
Bright and coral coloured with a profile of wild strawberry, peach, blood orange and hibiscus flower. Dry, with a smooth finish.
Cellaring: Enjoy Now
Food Pairing: Goat's cheese is the classic combination with Sancerre. Also try seared salmon or a watermelon salad
Sancerre is rightly well recognised today for the quality of its whites but this wasn’t always the case. Historically it was its reds that put it on the map. The quality of its Pinot Noir in particular was well documented. André Vatan has continued to dedicate a portion of this family-owned winery to Pinot, specifically for the production of this high quality Rosé.
Pale and copper-coloured this is more earthy and savoury than most Provence rosés. Medium-Bodied with strawberry, redberries and peach notes. Aromas of White flowers and a lingering, mouth-watering finish.
Cellaring: Ideal to drink now when fresh
Food Pairing: A versatile style, this will work well with Chicken Caeser or Niçoise Salad, soft cheeses, grilled salmon and spicy curries
Domaine Tour Campanets is located in Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, facing north and overlooking the hills of Luberon in Provance. It was taken over by the Baude Family in 2012 and administered by Emmanuelle Baude since then. With a passion for wine, Emmanuelle quit her job as a solicitor to make her dreams come true. Convinved that Domaine Tour Campanets had a great potential, she then put all her efforts in restoring the vineyard and took up the challenge to revive the making of wine. With a commitment to Organic farming she applied for and received an ECOCERT in 2012 The vineyard offers a large range of typically provençal vine types : Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon, white Ugni and Vermentino.
Aromas of raspberry, spice vanilla and hints of violet dominate in the glass. A rich, complex wine with well-blended tannins giving flavours of red cherries, vanilla and earthy tones with hints of truffle on the finish. Partially aged in French oak barrel between 12 and 18 months.
Cellaring Potential: Drinking now to 2030
Food Pairing: Rich beef and lamb dishes.
Michel Bernard’s family has lived in Orange, a commune in the Vaucluse department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France, since the 17th century. As tenant farmers, the Bernards profited from the social upheavals of the French Revolution, buying their first vineyard soon after the momentous event in 1794. This vineyard is still part of Château Beauchêne but today the property extends to 70 hectares, including vineyards representing three appellations, Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône Villages and Côtes du Rhône. All wines, however, are vinified and matured in Château Beauchêne. Michel Bernard remains in charge of winemaking, working with his wife Dominique Vergniaud and their daughter Amandine Bernard, to create and market their array of impressive wines including Le Terroir. Bernard believes that ‘the character of a vineyard results as much from the history of its terroir as from the personality of the winemakers who fashion it’.
Deep crimson in colour with purple hues. On the nose, rich aromas of blueberry, mulberry, satsumas, chocolate and sweet spices. On the palate it is concentrated and full-bodied with soft, velvety tannins. The rich, sweet profile continues to shine through with blackberry, mocha, mint and vanilla wrapped up in a long savoury finish.
Food Pairing: Stir-fried beef with basil, American-style slow cooked ribs, hard cheeses
Cellaring: 2021-2030
The original settlement of Langmeil could barely be called a village when German immigrant Christian Auricht first planted the vineyard in 1843. Famously, some of the original Shiraz vines he used are still in production under the wineries “Freedom 1843” labelled bottling. This german-influenced pocket of the Barossa went on to establish a name for itself in no small part thanks to Christian and helped make wine a way of life in the area.
This wine is from a strip of land in the heart of the region called the “Valley Floor”. The wine-making here is hands-on with the grapes selected from premium sites across the valley. It can be considered as a true taste of the Barossa.
Blend of 36% Shiraz, 35% Merlot, 26% Pinotage, 3% Tannat.
This new blend shows beautiful complexity. Ripe plum and red cherry flavours combine with a hint of fennel and careful use of oak. The variety of fruit follows on the palate and is framed by a fine tannin structure.
Food Pairing: Roast beef and roast vegetables, or flame grilled venison and grilled root vegetables.
