A Model of Precision and Balance Within its Category
A true caress in both aromas and touch, this "mid-range" wine is a model of precision and balance within its category. Red fruits, pepper, and a hint of licorice blend harmoniously within a remarkably enveloped tannic structure. Already enjoyable, it will deserve a couple of years to fully flourish.
Food Pairing: Cassoulet with duck confit, grilled lamb shoulder with spices and honey, lamb tajine, grilled beef.
Cellaring: Drinks very well now to 2025.
STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
Christian Voeux is one of the most renowned winemakers in the Southern Rhone Valley having spent 24 as cellar master at prestigious Château Mont-Redon in Châteauneuf du Pape and a further eight years as general maanger at another great estate, Château La Nerthe.
He retired to his family estate Domaine de l’Amauve in Séguret which he inherited from his parents and continuous to make wine with his wife Monique and son Nicolas. The estate is certified organic and comprises a patchwork of 11ha spread over 25 plots. Soils are diverse across so many vineyards but include limestone, gravel, clay and marl.
The origin of the name of the property comes from the mallow flower, which are present in great number around the vineyard during spring and which give off discrete floral flavours.
The wines are certified organic so the use of sulphur is limited and fermentation is by naturally occurring yeasts. Red wines are not fined and some cuvées are unfiltered.
