Food-friendly, smooth and balanced Italian red blend

Ruby red, on the nose it expresses deep dark cherries, thyme, roses and some balsamic tones. On the palate it is soft and round with flavours of blackberries and plums with a seam of earthy minerality. Nicely structured with lively tannins on a long, smooth finish.

STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

By Italian standards, Castello ColleMassari is a relative newcomer on the block. Only producing its first vintage in 2000, it was voted winery of the year in 2014 by the esteemed Italian wine & food magazine “Gambero Rosso”. The wines from this estate are farmed organically by the brother and sister team of Maria and Claudio Tipe. Located right next door to the DOCG area of the iconic Brunello di Montalcino, this is considered prime Sangiovese terrain. We in the shop have a long standing relationship with these producers and are privileged to represent their range of outstanding wines.
