This is a young , fresh wine with mouth-watering acidity and is made for drinking now.
Food Pairing: To Sicilian wine lovers the ultimate pairing of grillo is with swordfish or a grilled octopus salad. Also try grilled chicken and peach salad or goats cheese with walnuts and honey.
Cellaring: Ideal to drink now when fresh.
STORY BEHIND THIS WINE
While winemaking in Sicily goes back to ancient times, its only in the last 25-30 years that it has really come into its own and expressed the unique identity of the Island on the world stage. Some of Italy’s finest wines now come from here, reflecting the distinct climate and terroir here.
One producer elevating the profile of the region’s wine culture is Caruso & Minini. With a broad range of the island’s indigenous grape varieties in their portfolio and a string of international awards, they deserve to be taken seriously. They consider this Grillo to be their flagship wine and is the essence of Sicily in a glass. Try it and start dreaming of Mediterranean shores.
