A Serious, Opulent and Complex Example of Cru Cairanne

This is rich, intense and drenched in dark red fruits. With morello cherry and a touch of cinnamon spice on the nose, soft dark plummy fruit, liquorice, chocolate, a hint of black tea on the palate, this wine is full flavoured and smooth with supple tannins. A rich, savoury satisfying mouthful that shows greater elegance with air.

    • Slow winemaking methods
    • Gentle maturation in French oak -both 228l barriques (fifth fill) and 600l demi-muids.
    • Blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.

Food Pairing: Slow cooked duck cassoulet, warming beef casserole or even grilled aubergine with a herby tomato Provençal sauce or a tofu burger with all the trimmings.

    STORY BEHIND THIS WINE

Boutinots love affair with the Southern Rhone region began in the early 1980s, when they first began making wine there. Ten years ago, they spotted the potential of Cairanne when they released their first vintage of La Côte Sauvage. So it seemed natural, when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity arose to buy a spectacular plot of vineyards in Cairanne, that they should choose to establish our winery here as well.

Now they have several plots of old vines they can call their own, as well as a working winery and cellar they are re-furbishing with loving care. Their dream is to create wines with world-wide recognition; wines which are fairly priced and wines above all, are made to be enjoyed.
