A classic Gevrey-Chambertin, that will provide many years of great drinking pleasure

This Gevrey-Chambertin from the rather cooler 2021 vintage shows fresh notes of red berries and cherries in the bouquet. This is accompanied by a delicately spicy woody note. On the palate it is just as fresh, precise and straightforward, it has the beautiful clarity that characterises many Burgundies of this vintage. The ripe tannins are present and give the whole thing stability in the very long finish.

Cellaring: From now to 2038

Food Pairing: Classic pairings include traditional Burgundian fare like Bœuf Bourguignon or Coq au Vin. Alternatively, it is superb with roasted or grilled red meats - such as a saddle of lamb, rib steak, or duck breast- especially when served with mushroom or truffle elements, or with game birds like pheasant or quail. For cheese, opt for a strong, soft, and pungent cow's milk cheese likeÉpoisses. | 🌡️ Ideally serve between 14 and 16°C

STORY BEHIND THE WINE

Thierry Mortet's Gevrey-Chambertin Village grows on a 3.1 hectare plot, some of which are planted with vines that are up to 60 years old. It is the estate's most important wine and accounts for around half of Mortet's red wine production. Everything here is traditional handcrafted with great care.
